‘Desert Trip’ – a 3 day festival in Indio that your dad is really, really excited about – is poised to make truckloads of cash come October.
Forbes broke down the revenue brought in through ticket sales, which would bring in a whopping $50 million! Considering that figure does not include VIP packages, travel packages, food, booze, camping, etc. – ‘Desert Trip’ is poised to pass up San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival ($24.3 million) as the second highest grossing festival in the U.S. (Coachella is number 1 at $84.26 million).
Of course, promoter Goldenvoice will have to pay out a great deal of that cash – with reports that some of the artists performing are commanding near $7 million – but are still in line for a nice haul.
And the money won’t stop there. A ton of money will be spent in the Coachella Valley at local businesses during the early October weekend, which is normally not exactly the busiest weekend in the desert – but now has rooms going for over $700 a night.
