Palm Desert’s El Paseo shopping district has been victim to some odd crimes over the years (EX: here and here) and now another can be added to the list: an angry dude taking an axe to another man’s car!
Authorities arrested 51-year-old James Scott on Monday morning after he allegedly took an axe to a car at Highway 111 and El Paseo in Palm Desert.
Police responded to a 911 call at 9am Monday morning from a man and his daughter who said that they were the victims of road rage by Scott.
After going all Paul Bunyan on the victim’s car, Scott drove away from the scene – but was followed by the victim and his daughter to the WalMart grocery store parking lot at Fred Waring Drive and Highway 111, where sheriff’s deputies caught up to all of them.
Scott, from Santee, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and felony vandalism. The victim and his 17-year-old daughter were not injured.
A passenger in Scott’s vehicle was also arrested for parole violation.
