A mother and her two young children are together and safe today after a man stole her car from a parking lot in San Bernardino Sunday night while the kids were still in the vehicle.
Tatanisha Golden pulled her sedan up to a liquor store on East Highland Avenue a bout 11:30 p.m. and left her kids sleeping in the car while she went in to make a purchase, according to KTLA.
When she walked out of the store, Golden saw a man get into her ride and begin to drive away. Golden then jumped on the hood of the car, but fell off when the vehicle swerved.
A couple of witnesses saw what happened and picked up Golden in their car to follow the man in the stolen vehicle until he crashed a short distance away.
The driver, identified as Steven Young, fled on foot and the two kids – a 1-year-old boy and a months-old girl – were unharmed and still in the car, according to the LA Times.
Young, 21, was arrested for kidnapping and carjacking.
When an officer noticed that Golden’s car had a flat tire as a result of the crash, he took it upon himself to change it out for the spare.
