The window display at Pleasures & Treasures in North Park proudly shows off sex toys and mannequins dressed in lingerie and bondage gear. And while it may be helping to boost sales, it is making things a bit weird for parents.
Shoppers of nearby stores who pass by with their kids have complained of the display. “They should be able to sell whatever it is that they want, but their displays that are visible to everyone in the public should be a little bit more censored,” mother Erica Acosta told 10 News.
One particular complaint involved the showing of a pretty graphic box for one of these that, as far as San Diego storefronts go, could still have been much worse.
The man responsible for creating the window visuals, Peter Gieblewicz, says that the store isn’t about to change anything – but he does offer some advice to parents, telling 10 News, “If you’re offended by the store then close your eyes, or walk on the other side of the street, or take a different route.”
