The San Diego Unified School District came to its senses on Thursday night and announced they are returning an armored military vehicle to the Department of Defense.
The district received the vehicle for free from The Pentagon back in April – and had claimed they would use the vehicle, called a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle (MRAP), in the event that students and employees needed to be rescued from an “active shooter” on campus.
But after seeing the huge militarization of authorities in Ferguson, Missouri, the public began to express concern and it looks like San Diego Officials listened.
Supt. Cindy Marten, who announced the decision to return the vehicle, said that “if any part of our community is not comfortable with it, we cannot be comfortable with it.”
