Traffic was backed up in the 10 Thursday morning because of a spill – and yup, that is a lot of wasted ice cream on the road.

Traffic was slowed for several hours after the early morning crash in which the ice cream truck crashed into a big rig, reports the Desert Sun. No one was injured.
Update: According to the Desert Sun, this ice cream has a bit of mystery behind it:
The pickup’s driver said he was delivering $5,000 worth of ice cream to a local school, but he didn’t have the name. Officials with the Palm Springs and Desert Sands unified school districts said they were not expecting a shipment of ice cream and a Coachella Valley Unified School District spokeswoman said she was looking into the matter.
And so “The Mystery of the Spilt Ice Cream” begins – a case that would have made for a hell of a Hardy Boys book.
