San Diego State University is now offering a master’s course on zombies.
Dr. Emily Hicks was struggling to get students to enroll her her humanities course, so she decided to switch it up and make the course all about zombies. Naturally, enrollment soared.
The current course has 35 students enrolled and covers everything related to the undead, from “The Walking Dead” to novels that feature the Haitian voodoo culture.
One student told Fox 5 that at first his parents did not understand why he would take the course:
“When I told my parents I was taking a class on zombies they were like, ‘what?’ But when I told them I was studying them in a purely metaphorical way, they started to understand it’s not a joke,” said Chris Serrano, a student in the class.
SDSU estimates the cost of one year of graduate school will cost $20,540 this year. I am sure Chris’s parents are thrilled that money is being spent on watching episodes of The Walking Dead.
