Next time you head down to San Diego, you will spend part of that time cruising along Tony Gwynn Memorial Freeway.
Officials will dedicate signs on Monday that designate a 3 mile stretch between Scripps Poway Parkway and Camino Del Norte for the Hall of Fame right fielder who played his all of his 20 seasons with the San Diego Padres.
Gwynn lived nearby the newly-named stretch in Poway before losing his battle with cancer in 2014.
Gwynn was an 8 time NL batting champion, the winner of 5 gold glove & 7 silver slugger awards, and was named an all-star 15 times.
