A couple of days ago we noted how there were, and this is a technical term, a fuckton of butterflies in the east Coachella Valley. Well, here we are a few days later, and they are everywhere in town – from Palm Springs to Thermal and everywhere in between.
Seriously, it’s hard to avoid seeing the butterflies right now – as they are just about everywhere.
Last few days been seeing thousands (millions?) of these mothy butterflies flying fast east to west through the Coachella valley. Strong headwinds today too! #butterflies #moths pic.twitter.com/zgbRUErdEn

So why so many freakin’ butterflies? According to the Desert Sun, the increase in painted lady butterflies has to do with that very wet winter in the Coachella Valley. That fueled vegetation growth and gave caterpillars plenty of food in the form of plants to eat.
And the increase in numbers of butterflies seems to be okay with most people as they are mostly enjoying seeing them…
The butterflies in Palm Springs ???

Except for the fact that it is making driving much less fun…
with all these butterflies I’m driving 30mph, don’t want the symbol for life and new beginnings to be smashed onto my windshield

A butterfly hit my windshield … not gonna lie , it was pretty scary
