A man died Saturday after shoplifting from a store inside Westfield Palm Desert.

Cops say the man ran from loss prevention officers, then suffered an undisclosed medical emergency in a parking structure outside the mall. Paramedics arrived at 1:30 p.m. to find the man not breathing. CPR was performed, but was not successful and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The death is being investigated, but foul play is not suspected. The shoplifter’s name was not disclosed.
