Your daughter only turns 18 once, and as a parent, you want it to be a special day for her. For two Poway parents, that meant throwing a “Playboy Mansion” party in their house for the daughter and 200 friends complete with lingerie, bunny ears, and booze – because , wait…wtf!?!
San Diego County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the party of 18-year old Olivia Lake, a Poway High School student, whose party was called “Liv’s Playboy Mansion.”
When officers arrived to the Poway residence Friday night after neighbor complaints, they found two unconscious, intoxicated teenage boys in the house and evidence many of the teens were drinking alcohol. Worse yet, they found Olivia’s father Jeff was in the house!!
Jeff Lake was and charged with violating Poway’s social host ordinance. That ordinance makes it illegal to host a party where underage individuals consume alcohol. It comes with a possible 6-month jail sentence.
And Lake should have known this as he is an attorney who (specialty: marijuana cases).
Olivia’s mother Jacki Lake is a former Poway High School PTA president who posted this to Twitter before the party:
Poway Mayor Stever Vaus spoke with ABC 10 and was not happy:
“You have a party like this and it’s as though you’re handing out hand grenades as party favors,” said Poway Mayor Steve Vaus, who lives in the neighborhood. “It’s a disaster waiting to happen.”
Vaus said he would like to see more teeth in the social host ordinance to keep parents from allowing kids to drink alcohol in their homes.
“I’d like to put a scarlet letter in front of the homes of people that do this, to say you can’t trust these folks, they make bad decisions related to kids’ safety,” he said.
