Drivers on The 210 Freeway near Pasadena were a bit surprised to see a golf cart cruising along in the slow lane on Thursday night.
The CHP started receiving calls about a man driving a golf cart in the slow lane near the North Lake Avenue exit around 10:10 p.m. He was reportedly driving with the lights off (which seems safe for the freeway) and was wearing a hoodie.
Police officers caught the driver right after he exited the freeway at Hill Avenue and arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
UPDATE: The L.A. Times has more details on the stolen cart:
At about 10:10 p.m. Thursday the California Highway Patrol got a 911 call from a witness who said someone was driving the nine-passenger “golf cart in the No. 3 and No. 4 lanes” of the eastbound 210 near Lake Avenue, said Officer Tony Polizzi.
The man had apparently left the Rose Bowl, saw the empty nine-passenger electric cart and hopped in.
“He took the cart and was trying to get to his car on the other side of Pasadena,” said Sgt. Mike Munoz. “It’s definitely chalked up as one of the new experiences for a lot of people here.”
