As it would turn out, there are still a lot of things on the internet that are not true.
You may have seen your brother, coworker, or favorite internet troll posting about Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly filming the sequel to their comedy about the fucking Catalina Wine Mixer this fall in La Quinta – a city known for not comprehending how to balance a budget or negotiate a roundabout.
The news comes from the website “Daily News 11” – because, sure, why not? – claiming:
Few details concerning the plot have been released but insider sources are claiming that it involves the two step brothers, both now with menial jobs, living in an apartment together in La Quinta, California. Dale finds out that he has accidentally impregnated a young woman who wants nothing to do with the baby after it is born leaving Dale and Brennan to raise the baby themselves.
Filming is expected to begin this fall in La Quinta. Let us know in the comments section below what you think about the newly announced sequel to Step Brothers!
But, as it would turn out, it is completely made up by a website that calls itself a fantasy news site – the same type of site that posted the bogus story about Star Wars filing episode VIII in Palm Springs. The same “Step Brothers sequel news” was shared around Richmond Virginia 3 months ago.
As Step Brothers director Adam McKay pointed out to IGN in January, the movie might happen, just not anytime soon.
“You know, never say never […] Is it possible when they’re like 57/58-years old, we do a Step Brothers sequel? Maybe,” said McKay.
That is it for This Week in Made Up Shit. Let’s check back in next week when everyone starts posting that Jurassic Park is going to film at the Living Desert.
