While hundreds of thousands of people are preparing for Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Who, Roger Waters, and Neil Young at the 2016 installment of Desert Trip, promoter Goldenvoice might already be looking ahead to 2017.
In a recent interview with the L.A. Times, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker of Steely Dan were asked about this year’s festival and hinted about 2017 (emphasis by me):
I assume you’ve heard about Desert Trip, the new festival from the Coachella people with Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan and so on.
Fagen: Yeah, I saw it advertised. There was some talk of us doing it next year.
And while “some talk” does not confirm that Steely Dan will be playing in Indio in 2017, it does show that Goldenvoice is looking to make the fall festival more than just a one time event – which would give Led Zeppelin another chance to say no to fourteen million dollars.
