“Jackass” star / stuntman Steve-O was arrested in Hollywood on Sunday night after climbing to the top of a crane.
Los Angeles fire officials received calls about a man climbing to the top of a crane a little after 8 p.m. Cops and firefighters, not knowing this was a stunt, showed up in force at the construction site and prepared an air rescue cushion – which was not needed, as Steve-O later climbed down on his own.

Steve-O had hinted at the stunt, which may have been a Sea World protest, Saturday on his Instagram:

During his time on the crane, Steve-O livestreamed on social media and, at one point, even set off fireworks:
Last year, Steve-O received a $239 fine after changing a sign on The 5 Freeway in San Diego to read “SeaWorld Sucks”. Steve-O was detained and cops say that he could face several charges including conspiracy to commit a crime, trespassing, setting off explosives, and filming for personal gain without a permit.

“Some of the resources on this hoax could have been devoted to a real emergency,” Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart told The Associated Press.
