Study: Get more sleep, earn more money

Want to earn more money? Go to sleep right now!! Wait, I mean, read this post (and click on all the ads), then go to sleep NOW!!!!

MarketWatch reports on a 2016 study from Matthew Gibson of Williams College and Jeffrey Shrader of the University of California at San Diego that shows that people who added an extra hour of sleep at night saw their wages increase by 5%.

A third of American workers get less than 7 hours sleep – understandable seeing as how kids are needy and the new season of House of Cars is not going to watch itself – and that lack of sleep leads to decreased productivity, memory loss, less of an ability to learn new things, and can cause workers to stress out and not work well with others – who probably also aren’t sleeping well, which only makes things worse.

The Mayo Clinic recommends sticking to a sleep schedule, cutting down on the caffeine, skipping naps, and getting a workout in among its tips to get a better nights sleep.

It’s also been my experience that owning a bomb-ass, comfy bed helps too.

“I hear people say, ‘If I want to make money, I need to sleep less,’” says Terry Cralle, a registered nurse and author of “Sleeping Your Way to the Top: How to Get the Sleep You Need to Succeed told MarketWatch.” “But the fact is, you need to get enough sleep, and get it consistently. That improves the quality of your working hours and helps you make good financial and professional decisions — and avoid bad risks.”
