Any week that involves a day of football and turkey to kick off a weekend is just a good week – but what to do when Thanksgiving dinner is over. Here are your best bets in The Greater Palm Springs area for the holiday weekend:
Thursday
Holiday Lights
Thanksgiving means the beginning of The Holiday Season (unless of course you count stores putting Christmas items out in August) – and a couple of unique Coachella light displays will be up and running. Kenny Irwin’s RoboLights is cool (and weird) and will hosting a toy drive Thursday night. You can also enjoy lights (and animals) at The Living Desert’s WildLights.
Black Friday Shopping
People have been lining up for it for weeks and Thursday Black Friday sales arrive!
The Westfield Palm Desert Mall opens at 6pm, Best Buy at 5pm, Kmart at 6am(!) – or you can avoid the violence and long lines by doing your Black Friday Shopping at Home.
Friday
Circus
Circus Vargas has set up their big top in downtown Cathedral City and starting Friday, you can check out high-flying, death-defying stunts, magic, and animals. If you go, grab your half price tickets here.
Singing sailors
The McCallum Theater welcomes the musical Anything Goes -which runs from Friday through Sunday. This production of one of the greatest musicals in history, was called “a knockout” by The New York Times.
Snot
Hailing from Santa Barbara, the hardcore punk band that takes its name from mucus performs at Schmidy’s Tavern Friday night at 8pm.
Saturday
Jim Jeffries
This dude is funny, even when taking on controversial topics like gun control…
