For just one crisp five dollar bill, you can sing along to “Walkin’ on the Sun” on a hot August night in Beaumont. Yes friend, you now know what will definitely be the peak moment of your summer.
August 2nd, the city will host Smash Mouth in an event they are calling, “One Night, One Band, One Great Venue” – you may have noticed the word “great” is only used as an adjective for one of those things – at Stewart Park, reports the Press Enterprise.
Beaumont used to host free shows with LeAnn Rimes, Rick Springfield, Pat Benatar and Kenny Rogers performing in town, but that all ended in 2015 when a bunch of city officials got arrested on corruption charges.
The city will spend $70,000 on the band, equipment, and lighting – but are hopeful they can recover that through admissions, vendor fees, and sponsors.
