One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting during a hostage standoff in Yucca Valley early Wednesday morning.
Sheriff’s deputies and a SWAT team were called to a home in the area of Buena Vista Drive and Old Woman Springs Road in the Yucca Mesa neighborhood on Wednesday about 12:40 pm, according to Z107.7. They arrived to find a man holding a woman hostage inside the residence and threatening violence. Hostage negotiations went on throughout the day and into the night.
A little after 3 am, officers heard what sounded like gunfire inside the home. Police entered and an officer-involved-shooting ensued between a SWAT officer and the suspect. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman was airlifted to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. No officers were injured.
