Police are searching for a man they say shot at them following a short pursuit in Desert Hot Springs Friday night.
No one was injured in the shooting, which happened about about 7:30 pm on Two Bunch Palms Trail south of West Drive . A person wanted for questioning in a shooting that took place at an illegal gambling operation earlier in the week was spotted by police, who tried to pull him over, according to the Desert Sun.
Police gave chase and the man began shooting at officers, before driving into open desert south of West Drive and fleeing on foot.
At some point the suspect’s vehicle caught fire.

Deputies, SWAT officers, and a helicopter were all involved in the search of the area for the man, who had not been found as of midnight.
Essentially, a pursuit occurred and the suspect fired at police, who weren’t hit. The suspect veered off into a desert area and the car later burned for unknown reasons. Authorities are searching for the suspect, said DHS PIO Doria Wilms. pic.twitter.com/z3K38GC17t
