Seismologist Lucy Jones says the quakes hit on the southern end of the San Jacinto fault system and were not far from the site of the 1987 Superstition Hills quake – which was a 6.6 magnitude shaker.
Four M3s this evening west of the Salton Sea, at the southern end of the San Jacinto fault system. The location is a bit west of the epicenter of the 1987 M6.6 Superstition Hills quake. https://t.co/mSPs2K9Q8W
