College of the Desert, known by most locals as COD, is a public community college and enrolls over 10,000 students with a little over 3,000 students going to college full-time.
The school A.A. degrees and certificate programs in culinary management, nursing, turf management, public safety, agriculture, as transportation technology, and digital design. COD is well known for their nursing program.
COD was established in 1958, with the first building on the 16-acre Palm Desert site opening in 1962. The college has since expanded with an east valley campus in Indio and a planned west valley campus in Palm Springs.
The campus is home to a a unique library that services both students of the college as well as the community of Palm Desert.
