A vegetation fire that broke out in Thermal Friday night has been contained at 3.5 acres by Cal Fire crews.

Tamarisk trees were reported on fire at 9:35 pm at Van Buren Street and Avenue 62, according to a news release.

By 11:47 pm, the fire had been contained to 3.5 acres.
