Smartphones are a great way to pass time on a plane. You can play games, finally delete all those emails you have been ignoring, and – since many airlines have wifi now – you can do what you do on a daily basis: endlessly waste time on Facebook read amazing Cactus Hugs’ stories. This, of course, is all asuming that your phone does not burst into flames.
Anna Crail was flying from Seattle to Hawaii for spring break when she says the iPhone 6 she was watching a movie on caught fire.
“When it started I thought we were going down, and I was like, ‘oh my god, there’s a fire on the plane,'” Crail told KOMO.
“All of the sudden there was like 8-inch flames coming out of my phone,” Crail told the TV station. “And I flipped it off onto the ground and it got under someone’s seat, and the flames were just getting higher and a bunch of people stood up.”
Alaska Air staff was able to quickly put the fire out – but, this is going to be a hell of a thing for Crail to explain at her Genius Bar appointment.
