The new Grinch movie hits theaters on November 9 and, if it’s half as good as the billboards spotted around Los Angeles for it, it’s going to be great.
Promotional billboards have been popping up over Los Angeles to promote the Benedict Cumberbatch animated flick, with one showing the Grinch stealing his own billboard:
I’m just gonna add to the excellent marketing of this new Grinch movie in LA! Home boy is out here really trying to steal his own billboard pic.twitter.com/GVJcslWZ4s

And while that’s pretty clever, other billboards are getting attention for the savage quotes about the Los Angeles lifestyle.
These Grinch advertisements around LA are horrifically mean and amazingly hilarious. pic.twitter.com/oe0HY0A8mq

And the campaign is not just limited to Southern California. There is also this one spotted in New York:
And Chicago…
Much as I hate to fall for a viral marketing scheme… Is this a thing? Specialized Grinch ads where he's just being Grinchy by lobbing softball localized insults? Are there New York billboards that say "This Apple isn't THAT big" and "Pretty sure this city sleeps SOMETIMES"? pic.twitter.com/FBn8XkOIjv
