The Jacqueline Cochran Airport has a new, fancy, $7 million FBO

A new, $7 million facility has opened up at Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport and, damn, the once small airport is starting to get pretty fancy.

HMG Aerospace has the details on the new full-service FBO (fixed-base operator) in the area built by Desert Jet.

It offers ground handling, ramp parking, fuel, hangar, aircraft detailing, maintenance, aircraft acquisitions, sales, management and charter. Offering a modern facility that strikes a balance between clean, contemporary design and function, the FBO is set to change the landscape at the Palm Springs airport.

The 32,500 ft² FBO can accommodate aircraft as large as the Guldstream G650 and Global 6000. It features floor-to-ceiling windows in the terminal as well as an observation deck and the only air-conditioned aircraft hangar in Palm Springs and Coachella Valley.

Jared Fox, Desert Jet’s CEO, commented: “We are experiencing tremendous growth in the Coachella Valley and Palm Springs area, with that comes higher demand for our aviation services. Desert Jet is poised to meet the increased demand with our brand-new facilities, additional jets and new executive team.”

The airport has in recent years seen in influx in private jets flying into it due to its close proximity to wealthy enclaves like the Quarry, Madison Club, Griffin Ranch and the Hideaway as well as the Thermal Club and The Empire Polo Club, home of Stagecoach and Coachella.

It’s also not too far from my house, so if anyone who regularly flies their private jet in and and out of the airport has a couple of empty seats, I am willing to kick in a couple of beers for you on the flight to whatever awesome place you want to take the wife and me.
