The Palm Springs Mayor would like someone else to run the Walk of Stars

The Palm Springs Walk of Stars – which, let’s face it, is a bunch of people you’ve never heard of and not actual stars – should be under new management, says Mayor Robert Moon – who took a few minutes out from driving all over town for shoes to outline the new plan on Facebook, which is good since, for some reason, the local tv news doesn’t cover these things.

The Mayor explains that under the old arrangement, the non-profit organization responsible for the stars had operated at a $5,000 per month budget for salaries for two people.

(Yes, I will pause the writing for a moment here so you can finish cursing out how fucking dumb and absurd spending $60,000 per year on this nonsense is.)

(Okay, let’s continue)

Under the Mayor’s new plan, the Palm Springs Chamber would run the program for $2,500 per month – which will be paid through revenues of the program like when people you have never heard of buy a star simply because they are ready and willing to throw down 10 grand on one.

“We anticipate that the Chamber will use their extensive marketing and management capability to bring new life and relevance to the Walk of Stars Program” the Mayor says in the post.

Sadly, he does not offer the best solution which would be to just get rid of the dumb things.

The Palm Springs Walk of Stars Program has been operating since 1992 under a License Agreement between the City of Palm…
