Gold Digest is out with their bi-annual list of the 100 best golf courses in the United States and, despite having a zillion courses in the Coachella Valley, only one course in Greater Palm Springs made the list: The Quarry at La Quinta.
The Tom Fazio-designed course has been named to the list every time it has come out since 1999 – with its highest ranking being number 44 in 2009-10. According to Golf Digest, the course made the list because, it “avoids the over-watered green look that many desert courses succumb to beautifully and achieves firm yet smooth terrain. The fairways were as well-maintained as any I have played this year.”
The list was topped by Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey, Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, and Cypress Point at Pebble Beach in California.
