Police didn’t say what charges the two men were being held on, but did say it would not be animal cruelty.
“We didn’t have sufficient evidence” to file cruelty charges, Orange police Sgt. Phil McMullin told the Orange County Register.
Chapman University released a statement that said in part, “The University will also undertake the appropriate disciplinary actions according to our Student Conduct Code.”
“The University will not tolerate any instances of theft, animal abuse or cruelty, is appalled by this behavior, and takes this issue extremely seriously,” the statement continued.
