Timothy Bradley, a former world champion, has retired from boxing.

The Coachella Valley native posted a statement on Instagram where he stated, in part:

Boxing gave me roots, it kept me off the streets, it gave me confidence, it taught me how to be a man and face every challenge head on and take the good with the bad. Yes I missed holidays, birthdays, even missed hearing some of my children’s first words but more than time, it took my blood, sweat and tears, all things I can never get back. Which is why turning the page for me is bittersweet.

Bradley had not fought since losing to Manny Pacquiao via unanimous decision over a year ago.  The bout completed a trilogy of fights against the Filipino, in which Bradley won the first fight, winning the WBO welterweight title, a belt he held twice in his career.

Bradley also won three titles at light welterweight.  He ends his career with a very impressive record of 33-2-1, with 13 wins by knockout.
