Police arrested a felon on Tuesday in a Twentynine Palms motel room after they say he was found with weapons and law enforcement equipment.

John Channell, 37, was in violation of his parole and was in a room at America’s Best Motel, reports the Press Enterprise.  San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies were made aware of Channell through a tip.

Deputies say they found two pistols – one of which was loaded – and an expandable baton were inside the room along with a police radio, two pairs of handcuffs, and two law enforcement badges – including one from the California Highway Patrol.

Police also say they found stolen credit cards and driver’s licenses in the room.

Later, Channell’s home was searched and authorities discovered two law enforcement uniform shirts and one pair of pants as well as two patches from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, a homemade shotgun, ammunition and other “evidence of counterfeiting and identity theft.”

Channell was arrested on suspicion of parole violation and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
