An in-home nurse was arrested in Twentynine Palms on Wednesday after police say she was unconscious and intoxicated, leaving her unable to care for a four-year-old disabled child.
Deputies were called to Sun Valley Drive about 1:33 pm where they found Traci Sparks “unconscious and extremely intoxicated,” according to a media release.
A mother returning home noticed her child, who suffers from a medical condition requiring regular cleaning of equipment in order to freely breathe, having difficulty breathing. The mother also found Sparks passed out.
Sparks, a Licensed Vocational Nurse for a nursing service out of Riverside County, was transported to High Desert Medical Center for treatment. Investigators located evidence related to Sparks drinking alcohol at the residence while caring for the child.
Sparks was arrested for Willful Child Endangerment.
