Two arrested for allegedly stealing copper wire from La Quinta parks

A man and woman were arrested on Tuesday after police say the pair stole copper wiring from the lights at two La Quinta parks.

Brian Hensley, 40, and Jennifer Jones, 46, were taken into custody by police at 1:12 pm. They were in a rental truck near Airport Boulevard and Buchanan Street in Thermal. According to a news release, the pair was spotted “as they were stripping stolen electrical wiring.”

Police say that Hensley and Jones, both of Coachella, have taken wiring from “numerous light poles” at La Quinta Park and the La Quinta Sports & Youth Center over the past few months.

Hensley was booked on suspicion of grand theft, felony vandalism and possession of stolen property. Jones was booked on suspicion of possession of stolen copper wiring.
