Two Kids Jump From Moving Vehicle as Thief Steals Car From Redlands Gas Station

Redlands police are looking for a man who stole a car from a gas station on Sunday. Surveillance video released Wednesday shows two children leaping from the car as the thief drives away.

At 12:41 p.m. on Sunday, a woman pulled her 2002 Acura TL into the 7-Eleven gas station on Lugonia Ave. with her two daughters, ages 10 and 2.

She left her car running at the gas pump. Her daughters remained in the car as she went inside the store to pay.

The security video footage above shows what happened next. The suspect, identified as Cory Michael Ahumada, approached the car, got in the driver’s seat, and speed away. The mother can be seen running out of the store and after the car.

As the car began to drive away, the 10-year-old girl grabbed her sister and the two jumped out of the vehicle. Police said both kids sustained minor abrasions.

The stolen vehicle, with California license plate No. 4UWT026, was last seen entering the westbound 210 freeway from San Bernardino Avenue.
