U-Haul names Palm Springs / Cathedral City as one of the biggest ‘growth cities’ of 2018

U-Haul is out with their annual list of America’s top “Growth Cities” and the Palm Springs / Cathedral City area landed in the top 15.

The company calculates how cities rank on the list by the net gain of one-way U-Haul trucks being dropped off in a city versus those that leave during a calendar year. U-Haul says that over 2 million customers dropped off a U-Haul after a on-way trek during 2018 so they have a lot of data and also reminds you of all the friends you lost to other cities last year.

U-Haul ranked Palm Springs / Cathedral City on the growth list for 2018. Why did they merge those two Coachella Valley cities together? I have no idea. But hey, it got them on the list, so there you go.

One other Riverside County city, Temecula, also made the list at number 19. Other California locations to rank among the nation’s leading growth markets are San Francisco (6), Davis (16), and Concord (24).

The top five growth cities in 2018 were Sacramento / Roseville; Spring, Texas; Manhattan, N.Y.; Harrisburg, Pa.; and the Grand Rapids/Wyoming, Michigan market.
