After hearing that about 10 sharks have been hanging around Orange County, Joseph Trucksess and his friend Courtney Hemerick headed out in hopes of seeing a great white close-up: the succeeded.
The two spent about 30 minutes in the water and recorded video of the sharks. Trucksess says the biggest he saw was about 7 feet long.
“I’ve always been into water and into wild animals,” Trucksess told The Orange County Register. “My perception of sharks has been so distorted by Jaws and other movies, it was cool to see how peaceful and non-aggressive they are.”
“It was cool to be in their territory, on their turf.”
