Monday night, singer Barry Minniefield of Palm Springs advanced on the blind auditions round of “The Voice” on NBC.
Minniefield, originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, moved to Palm Springs (via Los Angeles) to start a singing career and has been performing for the country club set in The Coachella Valley.
The 53-year-old soul singer will be on Adam Levine’s team, as he was the only one of the judges to turn his chair around for his singer. Levine waited for the last few notes of the 1972 Billy Paul hit “Me and Mrs. Jones,” to make the turn.

The television show also featured an interview with Minniefield and host Carson Daily at The Improvisation Comedy Club in Los Angeles where Minniefield once worked as a chef – but would come out from the kitchen during the club’s karaoke nights.
