A dash cam Video uploaded to YouTube shows a resident fleeing a small rural community in Lake County while the Valley Fire, which has consumed 61,000 acres in Northern California, rages all around the driver.
The two-minute-long, uploaded by user “mulletFive,” shows the driver taking to the road through Anderson Springs as massive flames burn all around.
“We did wait way too long to get out,” notes the videos uploader who stated that he was not aware that the fire was as bad as it was.
“We are the last house at the very back of the Springs, down in a gulch,” he continued. “There was no smoke or ash coming our way, and there were no sirens or air support nearby, so we honestly didn’t know how close (the fire) was.”
“In retrospect, we should have gone out for a drive to find out what was going on, but we were a little preoccupied with packing,” the resident added.
