Perhaps you noticed that things look a little different around Cactus Hugs today and maybe, for a second you thought, what’s that about? Well…
After over three years – THREE YEARS!!! – with the original logo for this here website, it was time to make a bit of a change. When I started Cactus Hugs on that beer-buzzed Thursday night in 2014, I had high hopes for it – but never could have imagined it becoming one of the most visited websites in the Coachella Valley as fast as it did.
As much as I loved that logo, the way people get their news and content has changed a lot in the last three years and the old logo – God, it hurts me to say that – just didn’t fit what was needed anymore on most platforms anymore.
You guys, aka the readers of Cactus Hugs, are extremely mobile – seriously, do any of you even own a laptop? – and you like to get what you want as fast as possible – and that’s what we want to give you.
Cactus Hugs is now available not just as a website – but also on Facebook Instant Articles, Google AMP, and Apple News. Whatever way you want to get your Cactus Hugs is fine by us, but we just wanted to give you as many options as possible – and these all look great and are blazing fast.
Note: if this sounds like nerd talk, it is. Don’t worry about it, just know that it’s all to make the site load as fast as possible for you.
As Cactus Hugs has grown, so has our content. You may have noticed contributors like Mari Hinojosa and Kristen, oh what’s her last name writing about things such as amazing doughnuts, fall drinks, and tacos, tacos, tacos. These two are super-talented and I grow increasingly jealous of both of them with each day.
I am so excited about having additional voices here at Cactus Hugs and I look forward to reading what these amazing people will post next and I am hopeful more talented people will be added soon.
Now, making these things happen is, unfortunately, not free. Luckily, we have some amazing partners that we have been working with – I am looking at you, Palm Springs Riviera, Eight Mattress, and Groupon. If you’re a fan of Cactus Hugs, be sure to BUY EVERYTHING THESE BUSINESSES HAVE!!! Or, at the very least, give them a try or maybe just say thanks. And if you are a business that thinks that you might like to work with Cactus Hugs, let me know. I would love the opportunity to talk to you about how we might be able to help your business.
Finally, none of this is even a thing if not for you. I cannot thank you enough for your continued support of Cactus Hugs. Thank you for reading, thank you for commenting, thank you for sharing, and thank you for just being awesome. I look forward to seeing you this Thursday.
