2 people in a stolen van led cops on a wild police chase in South Los Angeles on Wednesday night. There was:

  • driving on sidewalks
  • driving on the wrong side of the road
  • driving with no headlights on
  • multiple near misses of other vehicles
  • multiple near misses of human beings
  • a dog was hit (more on that below)
  • people on sidewalks yelling and cheering on the driver
  • spike strips were used
  • driving with flat tires
  • driving while the rims sparked up a storm
  • a failed attempt by the cops to spin the van out
  • a successful attempt by the cops to spin the van out

At the end of it all, two suspects, a man and a female passenger, got out of the car and laid on the street before being taken into custody.  They have not yet been identified.

KCAL9 reports the dog that was struck was found and taken to an animal care facility. The Maltese mix, named “Gordo,” needs extensive medical care and will likely lose one of its back legs. Donations can be made online at Access Animal Hospitals.
