Police arrested a 31-year-old woman on Tuesday after they say she left her daughter in a hot car while she shopped at Target.
Good Samaritans called 911 at 6:17 p.m. after seeing the young girl alone in the car with the engine off and the windows slightly open, reports ABC 7. She appeared to be sweating heavily and in distress, according to police.
Authorities removed the child from the car and she was taken to the hospital for treatment then released to Child Protective Services. The temperature at the time was over 100 degrees, notes the Daily Bulletin.
Samar Mansour Mari, the girl’s mom, was arrested for cruelty to a child when she returned to the car.
