Just when you thought “The Summer of Awful Parents Leaving Their Kids in Hot Cars” could not get any worse, along comes the story of 22-year-old Kelsey James.
Just before midnight on Friday, police in Bristol Connecticut were called to City Sports bar because James was sleeping at the bar. Police took James to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.
More than five hours later, James snapped out of her drunken stupor and asked hospital staff about her 2-year-old daughter. Cops then obtained a description of James’ car, which was parked in the City Sports parking lot.
Police found the little girl sleeping in a car seat. Naturally, the kid is now being held by Connecticut child welfare authorities.
James was arrested and charged with risk of injury to a minor and leaving an unsupervised child in a motor vehicle. She was released on a $50,000 surety bond for appearance in Bristol Superior Court on September 2.
