A woman is dead after police say she was hit by a car while lying in the middle of Route 79 early Monday morning.
The woman was struck at 3:28 am on northbound state Route 79, one mile south of California Avenue, reports KMIR. She was lying face up, between the fast and slow lanes, when she was hit by a 2006 Kia Spectra.
The driver of the Spectra was not injured. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, according to City News Service.
Police are investigating why the woman was lying in the road and ask anyone with info to call the CHP at (951) 769-2000.
