The Lakers gave a brave 18-year-old an incredibly awesome day

The Los Angeles Lakers won’t make the playoffs this season, but the year is not a total waste. The team did a very cool thing for an incredibly brave 18-year-old  – signing him to a one day contract and giving him the VIP treatment during the team’s game versus the Hornets on Sunday.

Yitzi Teichman, of Baltimore, was diagnosed with brain cancer last year, and just 10 months after having surgery to remove a tumor, the Make a Wish Foundation, helped him become a Laker for a day.

Tiechman had a signing announcement with the G.M., hung out with the team during meetings, was on the court for the shoot around prior to the game, and even got to sit on the team bench. The team even hooked him up with a limo to and from the arena and a huge bag of souvenirs.

The day was all about fun for Teichman, whose father told NBA.com what the family went through just months prior.

“We didn’t know what the future was going to be,” Michael said. “We didn’t know if he was going to live or die.

And this is not the first time the Lakers reached out to Teichman and his family. Kobe Bryant sent this video message 10 months ago:

Can't wait to meet you @kobebryant #cuckfancer

After meeting Teichman on Sunday, Kobe told NBA.com, “He has an amazing spirit and also a positive outlook on his situation in terms of how he was able to pick it up.”

The Lakers  ended up losing the game to the Hornets on Sunday but. after hearing what they did for Teichman, it is tough to be mad at them for it.
