An employee at the Yucca Valley Castaneda’s was shot in the head during a robbery on Memorial Day.
Two men entered the restaurant at 4:30 am, according to police. The men demanded money from an employee at gunpoint. The employee gave the men cash from the register and his own wallet, then one of the men pointed a handgun at the employee’s head and fired. The employee fell to the ground, at which point the man also fired a second round at the employee and missed.
The men fled from Castaneda’s and the employee was taken to a trauma center. His condition has not been reported.
Both suspects were described as light skinned Hispanic or white male adults, wearing hoods covering their faces. One was armed with a small hand gun and the other was possibly armed with a rifle or shotgun.
