A Yucca Valley man was arrested early Thursday morning after he led police on a high speed pursuit through the High Desert at speeds up to 100 miles per hour with his teenage son in the car.
Police tried to make a vehicle stop at 1:36 am, but the car did not yield and instead led authorities on a pursuit where the suspect failed to stop at posted stop signs, drove on the wrong side of the road, and reached speeds of 100 miles per hour, according to a media release.
Eventually, the suspect’s vehicle was disabled after they tried to drive through a dirt wash. The suspect ran away on foot, but was caught a short distance away in the backyard of a residence. The suspect’s 17-year-old son was a passenger in the vehicle.
Levi Korhonen, 42, was arrested and booked into the Morongo jail for felony evading and child endangerment. His son was taken to family members in the area.
