Coachella’s Las Flores Restaurant was shut down by the health department last Friday. During the investigation authorities found meth and arrested two people for selling narcotics.
51-year-old Lorena Gonzalez, the owner of La Flores along with employee Jose Navarro, 56, were charged with narcotics for sale, conspiracy, and selling within 1,000-feet of a school. They have not been taken to jail as they are currently hospitalized with a medical condition (both of them? odd.)
KESQ reported on the story and even got threatened:
It’s unclear how authorities began investigating the café, but News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 [note: stop trying to sell these as two different stations, they are just one big channel now] spoke to about a dozen neighbors and business owners nearby, and no one would talk to us on camera.
Our crew was even threatened to be ‘put out’ if we got near the business again. All of the people we spoke to feared retribution, saying a known drug ring operated out of Las Flores.
But intrepid KESQ reporter Samantha Cortese (or is she Local 2, I can never keep those station’s straight) did not get “put out”:
