The Buzz, which was killed by the Palm Springs City Council February, is coming back to Palm Springs (possibly as early as next month) thanks to approval by, you guessed it, the same City Council.
The council voted unanimously to bring back the shuttle, which will be operated by SunLine this time around at a significant savings as to what the city was spending before – down to $365,500 from $1,000,000 per year, according to the Desert Sun.
Mayor Buzzkill said he “applauded” the lower cost, but wouldn’t support using Measure J funds because he would prefer to save money in case they run over budget that on the downtown park (next to the scandal building).
The newspaper reports that there was concern from the Historic Tennis Club Neighborhood that the Buzz not run through their neighborhood anymore, which shouldn’t be an issue – since the Buzz never should have run through there in the first place.
The Buzz will operate Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 10 pm and should have a route that picks up stops about every 20 minutes.
