The 7 Stages of Dealing With a Heat Wave

While this week saw snow in some parts of the country, the southwest is getting ready for yet another heat wave. The guy on the teevee is predicting a hot weekend followed by a humid, gross week:

Even though this is something you deal with a lot in The Coachella Valley (it is a desert and all), it still is a process to mentally get ready for yet another heat wave. These are the 7 stages:

1) CONFUSION

There is Halloween stuff on sale, Starbucks has their pumpkin latte already, heck there is already Christmas stuff on sale!!.  Shouldn’t it be cooler outside already?:

2) SHOCK AND DENIAL

No.  The weatherman is wrong.  They were wrong about the epic flooding on Monday.  They will be wrong about this too.

3) ANGER

Why is Mother Nature such a bitch?!?!

4) DEPRESSION

Oh God it is going to be 110 degrees all the way through December isn’t it?  It is just never going to end.

5) LONELINESS

No one wants to come visit because it is so hot and because your A/C is running non-stop, you can not afford to go visit them.

6) REFLECTION

Okay, so it is a desert that you live in – and deserts are not known for their mild temperatures or rain.

7) ACCEPTANCE

Soon it will cool down and while everyone else in America deals with snow and ice and frigid temps, you will be kicking it by the pool.  You can make it through this.  Because it is going to cool down right?

Eventually?
