One day, you could be binge watching some ‘Breaking Bad’ while enjoying some chicken from ‘Los Pollos Hermanos’ – as the fictional restaurant could be coming to life.
That according to creator of ‘Breaking Bad’ Vince Gilligan who addressed it during a Reddit AMA:
There is talk of a Pollos Hermanos becoming a real restaurant. This is not an idea that I generated personally. But it’s one that’s been presented to me, through the good folks at Sony, and the idea came to them from a businessman who has an interest in doing just that.
Speaking for myself, I’d love to see that happen!
While this would not be the first time a fictional food joint has come to life (Bubba Gumps, Krusty Burger), Los Pollos Hermanos would offer some very unique promotional opportunities – as discovered in the AMA by Vanity Fair:
Fans of the late AMC series were so excited about the possibility that they immediately offered up a few business ideas pro bono. Among them: selling blue rock candy in baggies as a dessert, hiring a Walter White look-alike to sit alone at a booth, and offering a free G.P.S. tracker (installed personally by a serial killer) with each combo meal.
And while one local restaurant tried to go all the way with the Los Pollos Hermanos concept by actually selling meth, my guess is this joint will chose not to.
